BALLYQUAID MASS PIT
The annual Mass at the Mass Pit in Ballyquaid took place on Wednesday evening August 15, the Feast of the Assumption. However, because of the very unfavourable weather conditions, the Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia. It was con-celebrated by Dean Seamus McEvoy and Rev Fr Robert Fletcher, both natives of Killasmeestia. This ancient and historic place of worship was restored seven years ago by a dedicated committee of volunteers to remind us of the sacrifices and risks made by our ancestors in order to attend Mass during Penal times. During the Mass prayers were offered for all those who went before us and made sure that the faith was passed on to us today.
The annual Church gate collection in aid of Concern will be taken up at all churches in the parish on Saturday and Sunday August 25 and 26. All donations for this worthy cause will be gratefully accepted.
