LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
How many of you out there have boxes in the attic, shed or garage which contain model railway rolling stock, buildings or even locomotives belonging to your Grandad, your Dad or even your younger self? They are of great sentimental and possibly monetary value so what to do with them? The Midlands Model Railway Club has been housed in Abbeyleix Heritage House for many years and the model railway layout has a permanent home in the main hall. It is now in need of more rolling stock and other items but, like many groups, money is in short supply. The layout, as it stands, has given much pleasure to children, young and old, who visit the Heritage Centre and the club wants to extend and renew it so it can carry on giving pleasure for years to come. They can also run a check on any kit you may bring in to see about the running condition and any monetary value it may have and advise you accordingly. So, rather than leave it lying in the dark giving no one any joy, bring any kit you have and give it a bright new home where it can give pleasure to visitors and enthusiasts for many years to come. If you want further information please contact the Midlands Model Railway Club or Heritage House on 057-8731653.

Tidy Towns season is very much underway and the judging process will soon be kicking off. This competition is not just a vanity project, it generates real prize money for the hard working committee which is put straight back into the town and used to lever additional funding for other projects. Tidy Towns really need the community to help get the town in shape and if everyone could keep their immediate areas weed and debris free by sweeping and bagging up Tidy Towns will arrange to pick it up. They meet as a group every Tuesday but this kind of work can be done at any time. If you want to help out or get more information contact Mary on 057-8731257.
