The group present Keane and Scream, a tribute to John B Keane and others on November 1, 2, 3, 4. The group will perform excerpts from some of John B Keanes finest works to mark the irish playwrights tenth anniversary of his death. Performances will be from Many Young Men of Twenty, Big Maggie, The Chasta Tuite and The Field. Other talented members will perform pieces from Sweeney Todd, Mrs danvers, the Witches Cauldren, woman in Black and a Halloween Theme. Prizes for best fancy dress. Laois GAA will host a Gala Fashion Show in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel on Friday November 9. The Fashion Show will contain Laois footballers and hurlers along with some of the top models around the country, including the 2012 Laois Rose Niamh Bracken.

After their good on-field performances recently, Abbeyleix Junior Hockey Club are running a family fun morning for Halloween in Fr Breen Park. A fun and action packed morning is planned and has been partially funded by Laois Sports Partnership as part of their initiative to get more young people active in sport. The club are looking forward to all club players attending and hopefully many more from local schools.There are 8 activity stations planned ranging from soccer and hockey penalties, dribbling, basketball and many more. Drinks and snacks will be provided by the Club who have access to tennis courts, soccer and park astroturf and meeting room and cafe. All welcome and bring along a friend or two. Registration is at 10am.
