Charity Football Match
On Sunday 30 December the annual charity football match between the Flying Fishermen (representing Monasterevin Anglers and their friends) and Buddies Blues (representing Monasterevin GAA ex footaballers ) took place in the local Monasterevin GAA grounds. The match was a lively fun match with involvement of ladies and men on each team ,both sides were evenly matched as the game ended in a draw. The organising committee had raised a large amount of by sponsored cards,gate money, raffle prizes .All the prizes were donated by local businesses. Special mention must be made of Johnny Howard, Nurney who resides in London, who in the months prior to Christmas collects donations from pubs and business in his local area and this year he presented the committee with approx €2,000. Well done to Johnny and thanks to all who supported him. This is the tenth year that this event has been run and the proceeds go to the Day Care Centre. This year event raised more than €5,000 and was presented to the Chairman of the Day Care Committee Pat Ryan, who thanked Paschel Whelan and Buddy Harrison and their committee for their outstanding work in raising this money. He also thanked Monasterevin GAA and the players who took part in the match.
Dinner & Social will be held on Sunday, January 20 in the Clonard Court Hotel, Athy commencing at 1pm sharp. The annual dinner is always an event for music and song so come along and enjoy the fun.
