SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

In order to help parents and families embark on this faith journey with their child, Graiguecullen/Killeshin Parish is offering a baptism preparation evening to all parents seeking baptism for their child.

This meeting allows parents to meet with other parents as well as members of the parish community. It is an opportunity for them to prepare for this sacrament of welcome as well as explore and discuss its importance. This meeting will take place once a month in our parish centre from 7pm to 8.30pm. The dates of each meeting will be available from the reception desk in the parish centre. While this evening is optional, parents are strongly encouraged to avail of the meeting as assistance will be available.

KILLESHIN FC LOTTO

There was no winner of Christmas lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 02, 12, 15 and 16. The four lucky dip winners were Damien Lawler, Anita Comerford, Niall Dowling and Farmer Byrne, each received €25 and the seller’s prize of €25 was won by the Shop.

The next jackpot stands at €7,500 and tickets can be purchased for €2 from any club member or in the local Shop and public houses.

FIACC’S FOLK

Our parish annual is now available from the parish centre and local shops and it costs just €5.

Killeshin Ladies AGM will take place on Friday January 11 in the clubhouse. All are welcome to attend.

Graiguecullen Country Market is closed until the first Saturday of February.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place next year from 01 to 06 July, staying in the Hotel Paradis and costs €749 per person.

BINGO

Every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in St Fiacc’s Hall. Great money to be won on the night. Jackpot now stands at €1,610 in 47 numbers. Check on double number and win €1,300.

YOUNG EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

Over 30 teenagers have completed a six night training course to become eucharistic ministers. They will be commissioned at a special mass this Thursday January 10 at 7.30pm in St Clare’s Church. All are welcome to join them and their families. A meeting of the young people will take place this Tuesday January 8 at 4.30pm in the parish centre

COMMUNITY GAMES

Training for team events has started on Fridays in St Fiacc’s Hall and costs €1 per child. 5 to 6pm under 11 boys and girls indoor soccer and basketball. 6 to 7pm under 13s girls basketball and indoor soccer. Thursdays 8 to 9pm under 13s boys indoor soccer.

EVERGREEN’S HOLIDAY 2013

The annual holiday commences on Monday June 10 for four nights, five days, staying in the Four Seasons Hotel, in Carlingford, Co. Louth. Cost €300.

FAMILY MASS

A special family mass will be celebrated in St Clare’s on the first Sunday of each month at 11.30am. We see this mass as an opportunity for families to worship together and to get more involved. St Clare’s children’s choir will sing at the mass and we will be looking for different families to participate.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Carlow Active Retirement AGM is on January 9 and will be held in the Workman’s Club at 2.30pm. All members are asked to attend please.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place on each Sunday at the 11.30am mass in St Clare’s. We invite all children between four years and first class to join us for our Sunday school. Our aim is to introduce the children to the mass by taking part in activities appropriate to their age. These activities will take place in the parish centre and will be supervised by adults and students from our second level schools.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Each Wednesday from 10.30am to 2pm in the Oratory in St Fiacc’s House. If you would like to give some time to pray before the blessed sacrament please sign the book which is placed in the oratory. All welcome.

KILLESHIN HALL

SWIMMING POOL

SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

Saplings School for Children with Autism are delighted to announce that they have produced their ‘Carlow of Old’ calendar again this year.

The calendar was very well received last year and this year they have included a new set of old pictures from different areas around Carlow from the 50s and 60s. It is ideal gift for family and friends especially for anyone abroad at a cost of €5.

They have also their popular Christmas cards for sale in the Graiguecullen Parish Centre, Fine Framers, Rancho Reilly’s Pet Farm, the Lazy River Cafe and Saplings School, Church Road. A big thank you for all the support from various businesses in Carlow. Thanks to everyone for their support.

THURSDAY MORNING CLUB

Thursday Morning Club has resumed after 10am mass in St Clare’s. Parishioners are invited into the parish centre after mass for a cuppa and a chat.

Talk It Over is a free and confidential service for those bereaved by suicide or general bereavement on a one to one or group therapy basis. Their walk in service is available on Wednesdays from 10am to noon or call them at 0863364961

SUNDAY READINGS

Anyone who would like to reflect on the Sunday readings is invited to a half hour meeting each Wednesday at 7.30pm in the parish centre. A special invitation to all who will be reading the word of god at mass on Sunday. This is an opportunity for people to enhance their participation in their celebration of mass each Sunday.
