The parish lotto with a jackpot and of €9,200 was not won, small winners were €30 Jimmy Stapleton, €25 Mark Fitzpatrick, €20 Katy and Joe c/o Dec’s Bar. The lotto will be in Peadars Bar, with a possible jackpot of €9,500. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

TIDY TOWNS

Work nights continue every Thursday evening at 7pm. We ask all residents to please come out for one hour in their own areas. A lot can be done with your help. Please help ensure that the town is clean and tidy over the festival time as judging is still on-going in the Litter League and in the Tidy Towns Competition. We want Durrow to be spic and span for the festival visitors!

CULLOHILL TT

With judging ongoing in the Tidy Towns Competition, all are asked to make a special effort over the coming weeks with Friday evenings designated as ‘Clean Up Sessions’. All help would be greatly appreciated each Friday evening – to meet at 7.30 pm at the Community Centre

Harps

The GAA club are holding their annual race night on Friday August 16 this is one of the major fund raisers of the year for the club so please come out and show your support.

JUNIOR B HURLERS

Well done to our Junior hurlers on defeating Clough/Ballacolla in the first round of the championship on Tuesday last they now take on Clonad in the quarter final next Tuesday best of look to all involved.

JUNIOR A FOOTBALLERS

Best of look to our Junior footballers who take on Rosenallis in Rosenallis on this Sunday in the first round of the championship.

SENIOR HURLERS

Senior hurlers are also out this Saturday in the first round of the championship where they take on Kilcotton/Borris in o Moore park at 6 pm, best of look to all involved. The parish lotto will be nine thousand euro this week can we urge  all members to buy just one ticket and the club.

Fun walk/run

The annual fundraiser for Vita, Friends of Fr Doheny will take place on Friday 9th of August at 7 p m. All walkers/runners young and old welcome for 5 km route in Ballyouskill. Entry E5 per person. Spot prizes, entertainment and refreshments on the night. All support gratefully appreciated for this local charity, working towards ending poverty, by increasing the sustainability

Soccer

Well done to Evan Pidgeon on gaining a soccer scholarship to University of West Alabama under the coach Matty Thorne (Dublin). Evan will study Business Administration and Management over the next four years and also compete in the NCAA League. Evan is a top class goalkeeper and has starred for the Lions and Freebooters under aged teams down through the years. He also was on the goalkeepers panel for national coaching from the F.A.I.. Everyone in Durrow and surrounding areas, his friends and family wish him the best of luck in his big adventure. Even departs Ireland in second week of August and hopefully a star in the making. Evan is son of Pat and Caroline Pidgeon, Mill Road , Durrow

Arts workshop

To celebrate Heritage Week Sheppard’s Auction House is hosting a family arts workshop from Tuesday August 20 - Thursday August 22.

The workshop encourages children and their adult companions to take part in different activities, handle objects and to find out about artisans, artists, and their work, while sharing their discoveries with others. Each participant records their progress on work sheets within a personal Family Arts workshop log and is presented with their Certificates at the family arts award ceremony on the final day of the workshop.
