Training for girls Gaelic Football continues at the changed venue of Burke’s Field, Shannon Rd, Mountrath (200 yards on right after end of footpath). Training every Monday evening at 5.30pm for all girls aged 5 up to 10 yrs old. We are very keen to encourage new members to join.Subscriptions are €2 per week. Mountrath GAA are running strictly come dancing on Friday, October 25 in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise for the re-development fund for the clubrooms and playing field. 15 couples across the community are taking part in this competition which will be a night of fun filled, family entertainment not to be missed. Ballyfin Parish (RC) is in the process of applying for a tax rebate against donations made to the Parish over the past four years. Receipts [CHY2 Forms] for donations made in the years 2009 –’12 are being distributed. Please complete, sign and return them to the Parish asap or by August 25. The knitting club continues to meet every Friday morning 10:30-12:30pm all welcome.
The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

Late Paddy Farrell
Condolences to the family of the late Paddy Farrell of 42 Kiln Lane, Mountrath, who died peacefully at home on July 31 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Repoed in Moloney’s Funeral Home Mountmellick with removal to St Fintan’s Church Ballyfin for requiem mass. Funeral afterwards in St Fintan’s new cemetery Ballyfin.
