MARYBOROUGH National School is nearing its final days in the building which has been ‘the school on the Stradbally Road’ for the last 115 years.
Staff, pupils and the board of management are looking forward to opening in a new building in Portlaoise in September.
Past pupils, friends and present parents are invited to an informal Open Day 10.30am to 1pm in the school on Thursday June 6.
Pupils will provide entertainment, there will be refreshments, and a display of photographs and memorabilia relevant to the school since its opening in 1897.
The day will be a great chance for past pupils and friends of the school to come along and reminisce on days gone by, as well as looking forward to the future and to a big, bright and modern new building. The new building will be situated between the Timahoe and Stradbally Roads and will share a campus with Gaelscoil Phortlaoise, and with Educate Together NS.
