INDUSTRIAL WIND TURBINES FOR STRADBALLY

There is a public information meeting in Stradbally, St Patricks Hall on Thursday, October 17 at 8pm informing people about the planned wind turbine developments in the Stradbally area. We would encourage anybody from County Laois who is concerned, would like to preserve our wonderful environment, or would simply like more information to come to the meeting.

HALLOWEEN WITCH WALK

It’s that time of year again for Stradbally Youth Centre’s annual witch walk in Oakvale Woods. It will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 2-4pm. Take a walk through the woods and help us find Snow White who has been captured by the wicked witch, help us answer riddles and solve puzzles so we can pass all the necessary steps deep into the woods to help find Snow White. Lots of fun to be had with lots of chocolate apples and sweets and even prizes. Special prize for best costume. Everyone welcome. €3 to enter.

STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club are joining with Team Hope to take part in the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Boxes will be taken from now until November 6 and can be given to Vera Donohue or Dorrie Moran or to any member. Last year we had over 60 boxes, and in many cases this would be the only thing that these children will get at Christmas.

STRADBALLY JUVENILE ANGLERS CLUB

Club meeting held in St Mary’s Hall on October 7. It was the first ever juvenile meeting and it was a great success with a great turnout on the night. During the year there will be lessons on fishing at the lake for 2014. The first ever juvenile committee elected were: Eamonn Delaney, Sarah Sheehy, Jordan Whelan and Ciara McCarthy. All juveniles welcome for 2014. Stradbally Angling Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Gerry Kelly on the sudden and unexpected passing of his partner Joan.

BUS TO CLONFERT

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Thursday, October 23 commencing at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Hall.

VICARSTOWN RECREATION GROUP

The Vicarstown Recreation Group will resume this Wednesday, October 16 at 10.45am in the Old Community Centre, Vicarstown.

DRAMA WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS

STEAM TRAINS

Stradbally Woodland Express Railway steam train will be running on Sunday and Monday, October 27 and 28 from 1pm - 4pm each day. Fares children €2, adults €6.

KIDS AND KOFFEE

‘Kids & Koffee’ parent and toddler playgroup takes place every Friday 10am -12pm in the Ballyroan Community Hall. €3 per household and all parents, childminders and pre-school children are very welcome.

STRADBALLY YOUTH THEATRE

Stradbally Youth Theatre start back in St Patrick’s Hall this Saturday 2-4pm. All new members aged 12-18yrs welcome. No experience necessary, just wear comfortable clothing and show up on the day.
