Work is well underway this week to clear out derelict fields at Green Mill Lane in Portlaoise.
The work is the result of a campaign by nearby residents and local reps to get the developer to take responsibility for the 3.4acre site, the source of anti-social behaviour, dumping and criminal activity over the past four years.
Chairperson of Green Mill Lane Association is Stan Henderson.
“We are delighted that the work has started, we are looking forward to seeing it finished before Halloween,” he said.
He urged other community groups to contact developers directly, while using the power of the press. “It can’t be done without the backing of the media,” he said.
