Equestrian pupils’ success

On Sunday October 6, the equestrian team from Mountrath Community School represented their school with great honours, collecting much needed points in the Irish inter-schools Equestrian League.

On Sunday October 6, the equestrian team from Mountrath Community School represented their school with great honours, collecting much needed points in the Irish inter-schools Equestrian League.

Julie Keeley was placed second on the day in the open individual event, with an impressive clear round on Freddie her horse.

Tamara Mortimer was placed 7th in the Novice individual event.

Julie and Tamara enjoyed clear rounds, totalling 75 seconds.

Lauren Jones jumped very well on her pony Tipsy Lady, carrying one fault with a refusal at the first fence, with a time of 82 seconds.

Christopher Bergin also enjoyed a clear round in the Novice individual event on his horse Thunder.

Stephanie Carter competed well on her horse Ballyroan Boy, knocking just one fence.

The equestrian team were awaiting the next round of the Irish Inter-Schools League which took place on October 12, in Mullingar Equestrian Centre. They all train very hard and are hoping to enjoy great success in this year’s competitions.

They are one of a number of sports teams which represent Mountrath Community School.
