Laois County Council have issued a big shout out for information on planned events as part of the Bealtaine Festival 2012.
The Bealtaine Festival is a unique Irish festival which celebrates creativity in older people.
From dance to cinema, painting to theatre, Bealtaine showcases the talents and creativity of both first-time and professional older artists.
Bealtaine is coordinated by Age & Opportunity, the Irish national organisation working to promote greater participation by older people in society.
As this year is European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the Arts Office particularly welcome opportunities to bring young and old participants/organisers together this year to help explore the festival theme ‘What kind of old do you want to be’?
The Arts Office will publish a brochure of events happening in the county and are appealing to groups or individuals organising events to forward any information on any event or activity in May, as part of this festival, to them.
The deadlline for the information is mid-March at the latest. Contact the Arts Office, Laois County Council on 057 8674342/43 for more details or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last year a wide range of activities took place in county Laois as part of the festival.
From afternoon tea dances to theatre shows and leisurely walks in Glenbarrow, there was something of interest to everyone.
