Mountmellick World War One Research and Commemoration Group is holding a table quiz in the Mellick Inn on Wednesday May 14 at 9.30pm. €20 a table. Funds are being raised so the group can hold a number of commemoration events and also erect a WW1 memorial in Mountmellick.

Jean Farrell presents her one woman play ‘The Six Marys’ in Dunamaise Theatre, Portlaoise on Thursday May 22 at 8pm. It takes a light hearted view of growing up the 50s and 60s in Ireland. Jean is a sister of Sheelagh Coyle (Mountmellick). This is her fourth visit to Laois having performed in Port and Mountrath Golf Clubs and in Ballacolla.
