The Camross CES (FAS) will be holding their annual Race Night on Saturday night the 26th of July in the Camross INN. This fund-raiser enables the CE workers to get on with all the work they are doing from Kilanure and Camross down to Coolrain. This week CE staff will be calling to all houses in the Parish requesting you to buy a “horse” for €20.
Cemetery Mass will be celebrated in Camross on Friday Evening 1st August at 8pm. Tea and refreshment will be served in the Community Hall afterwards - all welcome.

The annual Parish Race night takes place in Bergin’s Lounge Camross on next Saturday night July 26th. Horses have been sold but the committee will be making their final calls early this week and if you wish to be entered in one of the races than please contact any one at the Poets cottage during office hours. Proceeds from the race night go towards the upkeep of the Village and at present everywhere looks very well and remarked upon by visitors and tourists alike. The committee looks after the upkeep of the cemeteries in the Parish.
Weather permitting the annual Camross cemetery Mass will be celebrated on Friday week August 1st at 8 pm.
Mary McCartney RIP
Sincere sympathy is extended to the McCartney family Coolrain on the passing of Mary (Minnie) McCartney of St Fergal’s Park Ballacolla on Tuesday July 15th at Portlaoise Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mary was in her ninety second year and had spent some time in the loving care of the staff at Abbeyleix Hospital. Having reposed at her residence on Tuesday her remains were removed to the Church of the Immaculate Conception Ballacolla and on Wednesday morning Requiem Mass was celebrated at midday followed by burial in Clough cemetery.
Chief mourners are her sons Pat, Sean, Val and Liam, daughters Josie and Marie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Nellie Stone, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours in Ballacolla, friends in Abbeyleix Hospital where she enjoyed a game of cards until quite recently. May she rest in peace.
Marian Quarney RIP
Sympathy is extended to the Quarney family of Rushin Mountrath on the death of Marian which occurred on Monday July 14th Marian had been unwell for some time. Having reposed at her residence at Rushin on Tuesday her remains were removed to St Edmund’s Church Castletown on Wednesday and Requiem Mass was celebrated on Thursday and burial took place to St Fintan’s cemetery Mountrath. Chief mourners are her husband Paddy, sons, grandchildren, brothers-sisters, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law extended family and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
