The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €16,700 and it would be lovely jackpot to win. On July 13 the jackpot was €16,400 and it was not won, small winners were €30 Agnes Barnaville €25 Helen Coe, and €20 Orawan Murphy.
The lotto of July 28 will be held in Dec’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €16,700. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot
Durrow /Cullohill Parish Anglers held a Rudd fishing competition on Grantstown Lake for the Richard O’Rourke Memorial Trophy. Winner was Pat Dunphy, 2nd Jonathan Stapleton and 3rd Patrick O Regan.
Laois Festival of walks starts on July 1st and continues until the end of the month with guided walks throughout the county, 23 walks and 23 locations. On Friday night July 25 there will be a family walk in Ballinakill. The walks starts in the historic village square and skirts the Masslough, passing the Heywood Estate. Assembly point is the square with the walk starting at 7.30 pm. This is a grade c walk suitable for families and is 5 km long and takes about one and a half hours.
On Wednesday night July 31 night July 18 there is a 12 km walk through the leafy loop in Durrow which brings you through Woodland, Farmland and River banks with a delightful rich abundance of flora and fauna. This is a grade a walk which is strenuous and you need the proper walking footwear and plenty of fluids to drink. The walk will take up to two and a half hours to complete and will finish in the Scarecrow Village. Assembly point is Castle Arms Hotel and will start at 7 pm.

Durrow Saturday market is open every Saturday from 9am to 12.30pm in the Computer Centre beside the RC Church on the Kilkenny Rd. Potatoes and fresh vegetables are available, to book your favorites please ring Marie on (087) 7742506. Home Baking from Bernie Brennan is also now available with a selection of fresh breads, scones, tarts and cakes. You can also book cakes for parties etc. with Bernie. A Cook School will be held in Cullohill Community Centre from Tuesday July 22 to Friday July 25 and again from Tuesday August 19 to Friday August 22. A sincere Thank You from the Doheny Family and Friends of Fr Kevin Doheny to all who attended the Mass to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of Vita and Fr. Kevin’s life and work.
