Engaging with Ageing workshop for older people hosted by Abbeylex Active Retired with Laois Partnership from 10.30am-12.30pm in Respond Community Centre on Monday, October 6 facilitated by Finola Colgan, Community Development Officer, Mental Health Ireland, as part of the Laois Mental Health week. Coffee/tea. Free event and all welcome.

Memorial Lecture

The Inagural memorial lecture in honour of the late Kathleen O’Gorman, former ICA president takes place from 7.30pm-9.30pm on Tuesday, October 7 in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. Entitled Creating Resilience the speaker is Dr Fergus Heffernan, psychologist and family therapist. Dr Katherine Brown, consultant psychiatrist will chair the event which aims to set out strategies to help you cope with life. All welcome. Free of charge.

Strictly Dancing

Preparations are now well advanced at the Abbeyleix Golf Club and our dancers are almost ready. Please note venue is at The Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise, October 4. Bus available from the Club.

Juvenile soccer

Kids & Koffee

Ballyroan Playgroup, ‘Kids & Koffee’ every Friday 10am - 12pm in the Ballyroan Community Hall. Loads of toys for kids of all ages - from baby toys & building blocks to soft play & pop up tents - and plenty of space for everyone to have fun & interact. Costs €3 per household and all parents, childminders and pre-school children/toddlers/babies are welcome. Abbeyleix Library

Juvenile Chess Club meets every Saturday morning at 10am. Noel Hume will hold an Exhibition of paintings in the gallery during September.

Storytelling with Lesley for 3-6 year olds resumes on Saturday, October 4 at 11.30am. CoderDojo classes are postponed for the summer and will resume in October. Eadrom Art class for 6 to 12 year olds. The next class time and details will be posted here later. Booking is essential for each class. Ring the library at 057-8730020.

Our Knitting Club will resume at 10.30am on Wednesday, October 1. 10 week Introduction to Computers commences on Thursday, September 25.
