STRADBALLY YOUTH CENTRE
Please note that Stradbally Youth Centre has new opening times. They will now be open on Friday evenings only 6pm until 9pm and entry is €3. As they are now beginning their fifth term €10 membership is now due. This covers the cost of insurance only for each member while in the premises and for two excursions during the year. Leaders have now planned a calendar of events and fundraisers for members to organise and take part in. An exciting year is planned for all members. New members (6th class pupils) can attend from Friday, October 10.
A table quiz will be held in St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally on Saturday, October 18 commencing at 8.30pm. Adults €10, students €5. Single contestants welcome. A fun night with supper and raffle. Not to be missed, all welcome.
The annual flu vaccine will be available in Stradbally Medical Practice, Court Square on Friday, October 3 and Friday, October 10 between 9am and 12 noon.
Pneumonia vaccine also available. No appointment needed. Please bring along your medical card if applicable. Risk groups include all those over 65, chronic illness, pregnant women, etc.
Winners of the whist drive held on September 19 are as follows: top score Mary Gowing, 1st lady Molly O’Brien, 2nd lady Willie Wallace, 1st gent Michael O’Brien, 2nd gent Leslie Hunter, 1st half Tom Gowing, 2nd half Teresa Grufferty, lowest score Tom Finn and Maud Wynne, hatching Sean Langton and John Graham.

NURSING HOME AWARDS
Laois has a finalist in the Nursing Home Ireland Caring Awards 2014. Martina Dunne of Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally is one of three finalists in the Nursing Home Catering & Nutrution Award category. Martins will go forward to the prestigious national awards ceremony that will take place in Citywest Hotel, Co Dublin on Thursday, November 6.
STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB AGM
Stradbally Flower and Garden Club are holding their AGM on Wednesday, October 1 in St Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally at 8pm. They will review the past year and are looking forward to a busy 2015. Hoping to see all members and welcome to new members on the night. Tea and biscuits served.

Stradbally PlayHouse Drama Club for 8 to 12 year olds, starts on Tuesdays from September 30 in St Mary’s Hall 3.15 – 4.45pm at a cost of €45 per ten-week term.

STRADBALLY ANGLING JUVENILE CLUB
The club are holding a fundraising draw on Saturday, October 25 in Dunnes. There is €1,000 in prizemoney with the first prize being €400. Tickets now on sale at €2 each. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
The Arthouse Gallery, Stradbally will host a magical exhibition in October by a young local artist Gemma Lalor from Portlaoise. The exhibition will be officially launched on Thursday, October 2 at 6pm by well known musician and songwriter Adela Meally.
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
