HARVEST MASS

Portlaoise parish will celebrate the Harvest at masses next weekend September 29/30. Parishioners are welcome to bring fruits of the harvest; vegetables, fruits, dairy produce, turf, etc to the Parish Centre during the Masses Harvest Holy water will be blessed. At the 6.30pm Mass September 29 there will be blessing of barn bracks and pies followed by a harvest gathering in the Parish Centre.

PILGRIMAGE

During a recent pilgrimage to Medjugorje Portlaoise parishioners donated €3,800 to Sr Muriel who cares for the elderly and sick people. The group also contributed €1,500 to a local orphanage. The pilgrimage was led by Paul Dooley, Gerry and Rachel Murphy, Anthony Egan and John Egan. The spiritual director was Fr Eugene Drumm.

Letters have been distributed to Parents of children in 2nd and 6th Classes in Portlaoise Parish Catholic Schools about sacraments of First Penance,

First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Communion and Penance enrolment forms to be returned to Kevin Coleman at the Parish Centre by Friday, October 5 2013.

The 6th class pupils and parents are invited to atted meeting on Thursday, September 27 in the Parish Church from 7.30pm - 8.30pm. The meeting will outline the programme of preparation.
