The knitting circle will resume on Tuesday September 25 from 10.30 am to 12pm. If you are interested in getting together with other knitters to knit for projects then come along and join in. The group meets every Tuesday at this time. All donations of wool would be greatly appreciated.
The Titanic exhibition which was put together by the senior boys from St Patrick’s NS will end on Thursday September 27 so if you haven’t been down to take a look yet, hurry before it is gone. It is well worth a visit. Congratulations to all the boys and the teachers involved in putting on the exhibition.
Mountmellick Photographic Society will launch their exhibition of photographs entitled ‘Captured through the Lens’ on Saturday September 29 at noon. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend. The exhibition will run until the end of October. Members of the photographic society will stage a free workshop on digital photography in the library on Saturday October 13. Please book a place through the library to take part.
POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH
A four week programme promoting positive mental health will take place on Tuesday mornings October 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 11am to 1pm each morning in MDA. The newly elected officer board of Mountmellick Hospital Action committee wish to extend their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the outgoing committee. mountmellick PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
On Saturday September 29 at noon an exhibition by members of Mountmellick Photographic Society will open in the library. Titled ‘Captured : Through the Lens by Mountmellick Photographic Society’ this exhibition will run during library opening hours until the end of October. It will include landscape, seascape, nature, wildlife, portraiture and abstract images.
MPS is a long established club with a strong membership of many seasoned photographers and also includes a number of IPF (Irish Photographic Federation) Distinction holders.

The monthly social dance takes place on Saturday September 29 in the Owenass hall with music by David Rea. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12.30am. All are welcome.

Dancing is on Wednesdays from 3pm to 4.30pm in Wolfe Tone Court beginning on October 3. Art classes will resume on Thursday September 27 from 2pm to 4pm in Wolfe Tone Court.
The weekly music and song in St Vincent’s Hospital continues on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm.
The outing to the Over 50s show in the RDS is on Friday October 12 with the bus leaving MDA at 9.30am. Please notify a committee member if you want a ticket to the show and/or a place on the bus.
LAOIS MARTIAL ART
Classes for all ages from 4yrs old upwards held in Mountmellick and Portlaoise on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. There is a full matted professional gym including punch bags and boxing ring. Classes are taught by a 4th degree Irish national coach and National Champion. For details contact 087 2768843.
