FLOOD Risk consultation

Draft Flood Maps are currently being prepared for Mountrath & Ballyroan. A Public Consultation Day will be held at Mountrath Library, Shannon Street, Mountrath, from 3-7pm on Tuesday, February 17 to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to view and comment on these maps. A flood risk project team will be available to discuss and explain the maps . www.southeastcframstudy.ie

AThletics

Ballyroan Abbeyleix and District Athletics Club training every Monday night leaving at 7.30pm sharp from Ballyroan Church. Tuesday night training at Ballyroan GAA at 7.30pm. Thursday night tempo training leaves church at 7.30pm.

ICA

Meeting took place on Feb 10th. President Evelyn Mulhall presided. She thanked all who attended and supported the Christmas Draw & Table Quiz. Congratulations to the winning team who received the Kathleen Gorman Trophy. Three members will attend the Federation Table Quiz in Castletown on Feb 25th. Four names were drawn to attend Laois Week in An Grianán. The meeting concluded with a Demonstration on Aloe Vera. Next meeting is fixed for March 10th.

PEOPLE OVER WIND

People Over Wind are holding a fundraising Table Quiz on Friday 20th February at 9pm in Delaney’s Pub Ballyroan.

€10 per person with prizes on the night. good night guaranteed.

BALLYROAN ABBEY NEWS

The €130 County Board Draw tickets are currently available. The top prize is €10,000 and can be won every month from March till June among many other prizes. There are monthly DD payments to make it more affordable and membership of the club can also be incorporated. Please contact a member of the GAA committee if interested.

late James DEEGAN

Condolences to the family of the late James (Jimmy) Deegan, Chapel Street, Ballyroan, who Died on February 11 who died peacefully in the care of St. Vincent’s Hospital Mountmellick. Deeply regretted by his loving daughter Marie, son Seamus, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed at his residence. Removal to St Patrick’s Church Ballyroan for Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ballyroan.
