The Winter Federation meeting was held on Sunday, November 25. Hosted by Ballylinan Guild the meeting was presided over by Federation president Betty Gorman. There was very good attendance on such a wet and miserable afternoon. Breda Hovendon Guild president gave a very warm welcome to all those present.

Votes of sympathy were passed with Mary Delaney Raheen Guild on the death of her brother, Mary Waslsh Cullohill Guild on the death of her husband, Nora Brennan Spink guild on the death of her brother, Marie Grahan Stradbally guild on the death of her sister, Mary Mc Donald Arles guild on the death of her husband, Mary Cuddy Killanure on the death of her mother, Annie Delaney Ratheniska guild on the death of her brother and Breda Hovendon Ballylinan duild on the death of her husband, To the members of Mountmellick guild on the death of Carmel Gorman, their founding member. Ther was a very full agenda for the evening.
The new ICA cook book is on sale with very popular for presents, some still for sale, can be had from Federation Treasurer Noreen Byrne at 87 38980 or Betty Gorman on 87 32482 Many member from Laoise federation have receips in the book.
The choir have two performances comming up one in Knock Church Spink on Sunday, December 2 at 7 30pm, St Pauls Church Portarlington Sunday, December 16 at 7 30pm.
Mr Cormac Lally from the Simon Community spoke on the homeless in Laois which need great support this Christmas.
tHE President spoke on all group meetings revived in the county which were held in Clough, Cullohill and Clonaslee.

International officer Ann Cass reported on a ver successful holiday in Spain in September and AN Grianin, Trip to Harvest festival. A Big thank you to the ladies who went on the Brest Cancer Walk Emo and Killabin guilds gave their report for the year which was very much appreciated. Federation president Betty Gorman ans Secetary Ann Payne attended National conferance in Dublin on Saturday, November 24.
Federation table quiz will be held in Spink, February 27. The meeting ended with a lovely sit down supper hosted by Ballylinan guild President wished all the members a very Happy Christmas.
Congrats to Kathleen Gorman of the ICA who was among the nomineees for the Unsung Hero Award at the Laois Community and Voluntary Awards. The judges said Kathleen is a major player when it comes to community life and has made a huge contribution to the people of Laois and local communities quietly and without recognition. Kathleen’s dedication to people with disabilities and older people is tremendous. Everything that Kathleen does is accomplished. The judges said she is very proactive in the promotion and development of ICA Groups in the County. She gives her time weekly to Ballinakill Active Retirement and was instrumental in setting it up. Kathleen is a trained volunteer with the Cuisle Centre. She has a strong interest in Mental Health issues and was very involved in the organisation and promotion of Laois Connects Mental Health Awareness Week. She represents her electoral area on the Community Forum. the judges said that those who nominated her describe Kathleen as someone who truly puts herself and gives back time and time again.
