Ballyfin Vintage & Veteran Club
Annual ploughing match in Coolnamona, Ballyfin at 12 noon on Sunday, March 1. Open-class and pre-1959 will be the two competition classes. An entry fee of €20 will apply for each plot. Spectators are free & welcome. Proceeds to local charities.
The club held its annual table quiz at the Deadmans Inn, Ballyfin on January 30. An enjoyable evening was had by all 34 teams. Over €3,000 raised in support of ONE (Our New Ears) which is part of DeafHear.ie (formally the National Association for the Deaf).

FLOOD Risk consultation
Draft Flood Maps are currently being prepared for Mountrath & Ballyroan. A Public Consultation Day will be held at Mountrath Library, Shannon Street, Mountrath, from 3-7pm on Tuesday, February 17 to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to view and comment on these maps. The Lourdes Pilgrimage organised by Mountrath, Ballyfin and Mountmellick Parishes will depart on July 19 for 7 nights. Full Board Accommodation in Hotel Solitude. ST FINTAN’S GAA
There was no winner and next week’s jackpot stands at 4,200 and the draw will be held on Monday February 16.
Reminder that membership is now due. Membership is €20 for non playing members, €30 for adult players, €10 per juvenile and €20 for two or more juveniles in a family. Also tickets are still available for the All County Members draw. Tickets are €130 and there are 4 monthly draws with prizes starting at €10,000 with over €100,000 worth of prizes to be won. This is a vital fundraiser for the club and your support would be greatly appreciated.
Thinking of Spring cleaning? Well, the club are running a clothing recycling drive that could help you get rid of your old clothes etc. and help your local club at the same time. The closing date for dropping clothes etc is on February 21, clothes, bed clothes, curtains etc can be dropped down to the hurling field any time between now and then.
Laois Senior Scor is taking place on Friday February 20 and we are delighted that the Scór competition is taking place in St Fintan’s Hall, Mountrath at 8pm with registration starting at 7.30pm. The competition is open to all aged 17 and upwards so if you can sing, dance, tell a yarn or play an instrument and are interested contact Monica on 085-2445610

The sale of jam continues in Costcutters Mountrath and Phelan’s Shop Castletown. We would like to thank everyone for their continuing support for this worthy cause by buying jam and donating fruit.
