The parish lotto with a jackpot and of €6,950 was not won, small winners were €30 Simon Dwyer, €25 Peter Carey, €20 Kathleen Dwyer. The lotto will be in the Dec’s Bar, on April 28 with a possible jackpot of €7,100. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.


I would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported a Tea/Coffee day in my house on Friday April 5. A total of two thousand and thirty euro was collected for the Irish Cancer Society. I was overwhelmed by the gerorisity of everyone, a big thank you from Jacinta Fitzpatrick.

Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra

Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra na Feirme held their fundraiser in Durrow last Saturday night. The club organised a scavenger hunt through Durrow entitled ‘Durrow Debauchery’. The idea was that the teams had to answer clues and questions as they toured through Durrow. A big thank you to all those who supported us on the night and also to all the businesses throughout Durrow who allowed us to use their premises. It was a great success and we hope to do another one again in the future. Best of luck to Laura Brennan, Catherine Walshe, Brid Walsh and Cathy Downey who are representing us in the next round of the set dancing in Cashel on May 4. Laura Brennan is also taking part in the solo Instrumental competition. Best of Luck girls. Age Friendly

Kilkenny Age Friendly County programme is available to provide ‘Aging with Confidence’ in your area. The eight weeks workshop is a personal development programme designed to help people over 55 explore their aging process. The programme is run by two trained facilitators and looks at all aspects of aging including physical, emotional and intellectual. The workshop is free of charge and is usually run at local community/parish centers. Enquiries welcome from community centers/individuals and groups. Whist Drive

Killermogh Parish Whist Drive will be held in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow on Thursday night April 25 at 8.30 pm. All welcome to come and enjoy a night of cards.


Durrow/Cullohill Parish anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Bill Kelly Memorial cup on Sunday. Some beautiful fish were weighed-in. The winner was Tommy Coffey, 2nd Alan Dwyer and 3rd Mick Walsh. Juveniles winner was Daniel Brophy with Lea Coffey in second place. On Sunday April 28 there will be a trout fishing competition for the Mick O’Rourke Memorial Cup. This will be the first time this trophy will be competed for as it was presented to the club by the O’Rourke Family to mark the tragic death of Mick. The late Mick O’Rourke was a wonderful chairman of the club for many years and was also a great member. The winning of this trophy will keenly fished and the winner will be proud to be the first name on this beautiful cup in memory of a true gentleman. The club are very pleased to announce that Granstown Lake will be offically opened in mid May and it will provide excellent fishing facilities for the club members.
