Pride of Place

Portarlington has been honoured to be chosen by Laois County Council to participate in this year’s Pride of Place. Judges will arrive in town on Friday July 12 at 10am. They will arrive by bus, so they will see a lot of the town before arriving at the community centre for a presentation about our town. Then they will speak to all groups present with their own stall showing what has been achieved by every group/club. Whether it contains photos, awards etc, they will like to see this and speak to whoever is there from your group/club.

So before this takes place, we need your help to get the town tidied up. So on Saturday July 6 from 10am to approx 1pm we need your help. If you can’t attend on July 6 the Portarlington Tidy Towns will have their next clean up on next Tuesday July 2 at 7pm, meeting in the Square. Maybe you can do an area where you live that you think needs some care, maybe organise some neighbours or friends. You can contact Tidy Towns about collection of bags of weeds and litter. This can be done at any time. For any clubs/groups that need information for July 12 please contact the Love Port office in Oriel House Main Street. Call in, or phone 085 8568801 or email info@portarlington.ie. This is going to be a great occasion for Portarlington.
