THE 20th annual Ó Leathlobhair Clan Rally will take place from Friday July 12 to Sunday July 14. A large crowd is expected to attend this year for the rally’s 20th year, and because this is the year of the Gathering.
On Friday July 12 the clan’s AGM will take place at 8pm in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, and will be followed by refreshments and musical entertainment.
Saturday begins with a historical tour of the county. For those interested in seeing some of the historical buildings of Laois as described in Jack Carter’s book, a bus tour guided by Jackie Hyland will start at the Manor Hotel car park from 10am.
There will be a break for lunch. The only cost to those travelling will be for lunch and admission charges. Anyone interested in this tour should let organisers know before the AGM so that appropriate transport can be arranged. The group will return to the hotel at 4pm.
At 8.30pm that evening the clan banquet will take place. This is €25 per person in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel.
There are valuable door prizes on the night. Music will be provided by Solitaire and the night will also see the election of the new chieftain.
At 12pm on Sunday July 12 there will be an ecumenical Service in Church of Adoration, Abbeyleix and this will be followed by a farewell lunch in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel at 1pm.
