Back to school
Kilanure N.S reopened on Wednesday of last week, and Camross N.S reopened on Monday of this week. Camross N.S enrolled sixteen new pupils, thirteen of which are girls. We had our annual school Mass on Thursday morning at 9.30 a.m. It was lovely to see the kids so involved as they did readings, prayers of the Faithful and carried up the gifts. Hopefully when the children are older they will look back on such occasions with fond memories!
The first meeting after summer recess was held last Tuesday evening. Maud McGlynn President presided. Votes of sympathy were extended to Michael Lalor and family, the Maher family Closh annd to the Tyrrell family Cahir on the death of Sean Tyrrell, which took place in England.
Congratulations were extended to P.J Cuddy on his recent achievement in recognition of his hurling career. We are all delighted for him as it is well deserved. Well done P.J.
Development of Poet’s Cottage
As many of you are aware we are presently getting the Poet’s cottage re-thatched. This is part of an overall development project, which the cottage is at the centre of. Two other elements of this development are the establishment of a parish website and a display area consisting of old traditional farm implements. Regarding the display area we have a number of implements presently, however if there is anyone with old traditional farm implements which they would like to see being displayed as part of this collection we would like to hear from you.
In relation to the Parish website, we would like all business and organisations to be involved and represented in the building of this site and all are welcome to come forward with their ideas. We are especially interested in getting photographs, both old and new from individuals and organisations, which tell us something about the parish. They can show anything from an event to the scenery to our history etc. Please contact Marguerite/Aidan at 0578735016 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bus to the ploughing
There will be a bus for The Ploughing Championship leaving Camross on Tuesday the 24th September at 8.30. Anyone interested in going please contact Sheila Ryan on 0578735271.
