Support meeting for carers takes place in Abbeyleix on Wednesday, November 27 at 11am in Heritage House. Ideal way to meet with other carers while taking a break from caring.

Lions Social dancing

Abbeyleix Lions Club & District Social dancing takes place every Thursday 9.30-12.30pm in the Abbeyleix Golf Club. Tea/cofee served. Adms €8.


Free CPR/AED training will take place at the Abbeyleix Manor hotel on Wednesday november 27 from 6.30pm to 9pm, followed immediately after by the AGM at 9pm. All are welcome.

Spink Dev Assoc

Emergency First Aid course being run in Knock Hall on November 26 by Ali Shrahestani (Ali Active Training) from 7 to 9pm with a question and answer session afterwards. cost is €10. Those interested should contact Ali, Michael Mc Evoy, Anne Cass, Peggy Costigan, Noreen Cahill, Eamonn Brophy, Micheal Kehoe or any committee member to book a place.

Our new chess club takes place every Wednesday at 3.30pm. Adults and children are welcome. Storytelling 3-6 year olds every Saturday at 11.30am. We are currently taking names for a knitting club which we hope to start in mid November, more detail will follow. The next meeting of our adult book club is on Thursday November 28, between 6-7 pm. The book to be discussed is ‘At Swim-to-Birds’ by Flann O’Brien.


November meeting was held in Social Services on Tuesday november5. Pat O Halloran opened meeting with prayer and My Land. Votes of sympathy was passed with Mary Duggan on the death of her husband Eddie, and Bernie Hennessey on the death of her sister-in-law. Winter Federation will be held in Castletown on Sunday November 24 at 2pm. Five members will attend. Catherine Smith gave report on group meeting held in Gort na Noir, she thanked active retirement for use of hall, report was also given on go-for-life day held recently. Good wishes were extended to Bride Reilly and Mary Butler. The guild would like to thank all who made their centenary book launch at big success on Wednesday November 6. The book can be purchased at Morans newsagent, Credit Union, Heritage house Library and Anita hair salon. The Group also express their sincere gratitude to the many business, cubs and individuals for the tremendous response they received in financial support towards the publication cost of the book. Cookery Demonstration

Join us for our cookery demonstration. The Clonmore National School Parents Association proudly presents Ailish Hennessy from Fiacrí House Restaurant and Cookery School. Local producers and craft makers will display their products, for you to sample and purchase on the night. Door prize of €100 voucher for Fiacrí House Restaurant. Vita – An Evening of Music & Song

Friends of Fr Kevin Doheny are hosting a concert on Friday November 22 at 8pm in The Church of The Assumption Ballyouskill. Local choirs and musicians will perform to raise funds for the charity founded by Ballymartin native Fr Kevin Doheny whose vision was to enable and empower rural households and communities in Africa to build sustainable livelihoods. Fr Doheny dedicated his life to helping people in need to become self-sufficient and the proceeds from this concert will go directly to projects in Ethiopia.
