CLEAN UP LAOIS WEEK
Clean up Laois week is one of Laois Co Council’s largest anti-litter campaigns. It is run in conjunction with An Taisce’s National Spring Clean, Tidy Towns, community groups, residents associations, schools, local businesses and individuals get involved in clean ups. Competition time, in order to highlight all the hard work done, two goodie bags will be given away. To enter, submit your photos taken of clean ups in your area to firstname.lastname@example.org Clonaslee Tidy Towns will do clean up on Tuesday April 8 and Thursday April 10 and with students from Scoil Bhríde NS on Wednesday April 9. Please give an hour one of the evenings.
Clonaslee Support Group say a big thank you to all who supported Daffodil Day. The amount raised was €1,245.
The monthly CCDA meeting is on Monday April 14 at 8:30 pm in the Community Centre. All members please make an effort to attend.
In aid of Pieta House, Tom Conroy will perform on Friday April 11 at 8 pm in the Heritage Centre. Opening acts will be Danny Hyland and John Callaghan with his emu. This is a fun show suitable for families.
The AGM will be on Monday April 7 at 8:30 pm in the Community Centre. New members most welcome.
In aid of the Irish Guide Dogs For the Blind. 1st prize: Easter hamper, 2nd: beer and treats hamper, 3rd: ladies gift hamper, 4th: gents gift hamper, 5th: Killarney crystal vase, 6th: Killarney crystal candle set, 7th: Newgrange photo frame, 8th: biscuits and wine, 9th: chocolates and wine, 10th: Easter egg and soft toy. Tickets are €2 per strip, 3 strips for €5. Tickets available from Edel Dunne, Chapel Street or at local shops.
Signs for Text Alert are ready to be put up now. You can still sign up for text alert and the cost is €10. More information from Matt Barrett on 087-672-6290. When you get a text, you do not reply back. The number on the signs is what you ring if you see any suspicious behaviour in the area. The committee appeal to everyone to be very vigilant. If anyone calls and says he is from Laois County Council water services, or callers to tarmac your yard, ask for ID and VAT number or just don’t entertain them. The committee will have a church gate collection on April 19/20 as we require much needed funds to get wrist panic buttons and other items.
