ST COLMANS SCHOOL
St Colmans National School and Parents Council will host an important information evening for parents on the topic of internet safety on Thursday June 19 at 7pm. Guest speaker for the evening will be forensic psychologist Dr Maureen Griffin. Topics covered will include social networking, chating online, online gaming, safe searching online, cyber bulling and mobile phone safety.
Dr Griffin will meet with the students and teachers early in the day, and the evening session for parents will be at 7pm. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Admission is free, however a small donation on the night to help cover the cost of the evening would be appreciated.
The Irish Steam Preservation Society’s steam trail ‘Stradbally Woodland Express’ will have full steam up and running in The Lawn on Sunday, June 29 from 1pm until 4pm. Fare adults €6 and children €2.
The Stradbally Town annual awards night will take place in the Napper Tandys on Saturday, June 21 with thanks again to Brendan Lynch for hosting the night. Our senior awards are for player, young player and top goalscorer while our u19s will also have player of the season and top goalscorer trophies presented. Wexford group ‘Wrecking Ball’ wll be performing on the night, complementary food will be served and there’s a host of prizes to be won in our raffle on the night including signed jersies and footballs. Always a great night’s entertainment, be sure to get along and support your local club on June 21 and enjoy a great night out as well.

Bus travelling to the World Flower Show to be held in the RDS on June 20 (bus, admission ticket and evening meal). Please contact any member of the committee. This is the first time that the World Flower Show has come to Ireland.
A reminder that this year’s Medley Day in Timahoe will be held on Sunday, June 29. A day’s outing for all the family, not to be missed.
Active recreational Walking from the bridge every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. On Monday, June 23 the fare for the trip to Carlingford (Ballyscallion House) will be collected in the old community centre, Vicarstown at 8pm.€170pp shared.

Cemetary masses will be held in Vicarstown on Wednesday, June 25, Oakvale Stradbally on Thursday, June 26 and in Timahoe on Friday, June 27.
Congratulations to our club athletes in the recent u/12 u/13 juvenile Leinster track and field championships held in Tullamore. Canice Whearty is the u/13 Leinster champion in the high jump achieving a new p.b. This is a fine achievement for Canice as it is his third Leinster title. He also took bronze in the u/13 long jump and fifth in the final of the u/13 sprint. Sasha Kemmy came in a gallant fourth in her u/13 80m hurdles final. Well done to both and best of luck in the All-Irelands in July.
Good luck and best wishes also to our athletes competing in the u/14-u/19 Leinster championships in June. Our club continues to develop and be successful thanks to the hard work of our coaches, parents and athletes. A big thank you to you all.
