TERESA RYAN RIP

The community of Borris in Ossory was saddened by the death of its oldest citizen, the late Mrs Teresa Ryan (nee Lynam), Derrin, Borris in Ossory and formerly of Moneymore, Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois. Her death took place on Monday Oct. 27, peacefully at her residence in her 99th year. Her remains reposed at Guilfoyle,s Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath until removal on Thursday morning Oct 30 to St. Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory for Funeral Mass followed by burial immediately afterwards in the New Cemetery, Borris in Ossory.

The late Teresa, who was predeceased by her husband, the late Michael Ryan is the last member of the Lynam family, Moneymore, Borris in Ossory. She is deeply regretted by her loving family, Agnes, Joe, Carmel, Tom, Mary and Josie, extended family, and friends.

PARISH MISSION

The Parish Mission is currently taking place in Borris-in-Ossory. The Mission is being conducted by the Redemptorists: Father Denis Luddy C.SsR and Father John Hanna C.SsR.

The opening of the Mission took place on Saturday, November 1 at the 7pm Mass.

Daily Mass during the week will be at 7am and 10am in Borris-in-Ossory from Monday to Friday. The Morning Mission in Knockaroo will be at 9.30 am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and in Killasmeestia at 9.30 am on Thursday and Friday The Evening Mission will be in Borris-in-Ossory at 7.30 pm each evening.The Missioners will visit the schools during the Mission.There will be a Special Blessing of babies and children at 3.30 pm on Sunday, November 2 in Borris-in-Ossory. The Missioners will visit the sick at home and in the Nursing Homes. Mass with anointing of the sick in Borris-in-Ossory on Saturday, November 8 at 11 a.m.

The Mission will close at Vigil Mass in Borris-in-Ossory on Saturday, November 8 at 7 p.m.

CLEAN UP

It is proposed to form a group for the purpose of cleaning up the Ballybrophy Road from the Hotel corner to the railway bridge. A meeting will be held in St Canice’s Hall on Monday night November 10 at 8pm. All those interested in helping with the clean-up are invited to attend the meeting. ICA

The next meeting of Borris-in-Ossory ICA Guild will take place in St Canice’s Hall on this Wednesday night November 6. Members should note that the meeting will start at the later time of 8.30pm because of the mission.

SHOEBOXES

Members of Borris in Ossory ICA will be filling shoeboxes for the Team Hope Christmas Children’s Shoebox Appeal in St Canice’s Hall on this Thursday November 6. Anyone wishing to donate items for the shoeboxes can do so by contacting any ICA member.

GARDENING

The November and December meetings of the Gardening group are all about preparing for Christmas so why not come along to our next get-together which will be held on Thursday November 13th at 8.00pm in St. Canices Hall. There will be demonstrations on how to make wreaths and swags so come along and join the fun. Everyone is more than welcome.

Coursing Club

Hare catching continues each Sunday, meeting at Kirwan’s, Midland Service Station at 10.15am. Anyone requiring further details on hare catching please contact Liam on 087-2861955, Edmund on 087-6890937 or Canice on 087-2071267. It was great to see quite a few new young faces joining the team last year and more are welcome this year. All other members are expected to attend each Sunday.
