The cast and crew of Portarlington Drama Society present a selection of four one-act comedy plays by local writers on March 26 and 27 at Dunamaise Arts Centre. This is their third year producing original modern theatre which is both written by local writers and performed by local actors. All hands are on deck for this night of dramatic, comic and sometimes poignant theatre. Tennis Club AGM
Portarlington Lawn Tennis Club AGM will be held in the clubhouse on tonight Tuesday March 24 at 8.30pm. All adult and student members and parents of junior members are invited to attend. FAMILY FUN DAY
Just 4 Kids Creche Whitefields Portarlington will be hosting a family fun day on Saturday March 28 from 12-2pm. Everyone is welcome to come including family and friends. On the day the activities will include craft stalls, face painting, Jecca the Clown, nutritionist. Collette Whelan to speak and show you samples of food for children, Kathy Conroy to speak about Montessori education and many more fun activities. Make up artist Amie Moran will give advice on all your make up needs and is offering a free make up to one of our lucky competition winners.
We will be hosting the Great Irish Bake Sale on the day; all proceeds go to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. All cake donations will be greatly appreciated. Competitions will be held on the day to win free child’s places on our Easter camp. We will be also holding a competition for a sum of money to be won to donate to a charity of your choice.

The River Barrow trout season commenced on March 17 and will continue until next September.
River permits on sale from from Portarlington Auto Parts and Finlay’s Bar. Lake permits are now also available. The lake commences on April 1. The angling club draw will be held in Finlay’s Bar Bracklone St on Sunday April 5. Tickets are available from all members and will be available on the night of the draw.

Deepest sympathy to the family of James (Jim) McMahon, St Michael’s Park and formerly Kilcormac Co. Offaly who passed away at Oghill Nursing Home on February 13. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mollie, family Tony, Colette, Patricia, Eithne, Ursula and Paul. His sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his extended family and friends. Sympathy to the family of Mary McInerney Rose Court and formerly Bawn Rush Mountrath who passed away suddenly on February 13. Mary is survived by her sisters Paula, Ann Marie, Christine and her brother Tony, her extended family and her friends in Portarlington. Requiem mass took place on February 16 in St Fintan’s Church Mountrath, with burial after in St Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath. May Mary rest in peace.

John will be sadly missed by his parents Kevin and Margaret, his partner Melanie, his brothers, sisters, his extended family and many friends. Memorial mass took place on Saturday last February 21. Portarlington RFC are hosting the Cube 2015 in The Heritage Hotel Killenard on Friday March 27. We are looking for contestants to take part on the night.
