Portlaoise news

Toastmaster Jimmy Fitzpatrick presided over a very entertaining meeting recently. Donal Mooney gave a most humerous speech entitled “I was born before my time” where he enthused the audience by comparing and contrasting his childhood experiences with those of a child today. Gerard Rowney then delivered a persuasive speech in which he endeavoured to convince the audience of his intention to develop a product that would allow a user to smell odours appropriate to the images displayed on his PC or mobile phone. Bridget Dalton enthralled the audience with her speech entitled “A Wintery walk”, conveyed in eloquent prose, culminating with a reverential pause at the graveside of the great warrior Art O’ Neill. After the tea break Maura Glynn hosted a stimulating table topics session. Martina Walshe concluded matters with a comprehensive evaluation of the overall meeting.
