Mountmellick Scouts Fashion Show Fundraiser is on April 9 in the Sports Complex. At the recent launch tickets were won by A Delaney, J Bracken, A Maher and Angela from Zona’s Hairdressers. TheAGM was on March 11 with all Guild members present. Maureen Cusack of Clonaslee Guild attended to oversee the election of officers for 2015. The meeting opened with prayers and My Land. Secretary gave her yearly report and minutes from 2014 AGM. Treasurer gave a detailed financial report. Three members attended the Federation table quiz in Castletown. Ann Devine won the 2014 Competition Cup and Plaque. The night’s competition, a handcrafted St Patrick’s Day card, was won by Breda Culleton.
The Federation AGM is in Abbeyleix on April 22 and the Federation dinner dance in The Gandon Inn on April 10. Breda Culleton and Julie Stapleton will attend Laois week in An Grianan in June.

LATE DENIS DELANEY
There was much regret at the death of Denis Delaney of Manor Cottages and formerly of The Knocks, Ballyfin on Monday March 16. Dinny will be most fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his wife Maureen.
Remains reposed at Moloney’s Funeral Home until removal to St Joseph’s church on Wednesday evening. Requiem Mass was celebrated at noon on Thursday with burial afterwards to St Joseph’s cemetery. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Dinny’s son Pat, daughter Martina (Farrell), family, relatives and friends on their bereavement.
