Late Anastasia Lalor
Condolences to the family of the late Anastasia Lalor, Ironmills, Ballinakill who died on May 27. Deeply regretted by son Pat & daughter Mary, sisters Bridie & Mary, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed at her residence. Removal to St Brigid’s Church, Ballinakill for funeral Mass followed by interment in St Brigid’s Cemetery.
Applications being taken by Laois County Council for grants to commemorate 1916 in 2015. Maximum grants are €1,500 and there is no lower limit. The scheme is for projects taking place this year (2015) but applications are welcome for the planning/research phase of events or projects to take place next year (eg research for publications, writing of dramas, composing of musical pieces etc). There is no restriction on the type of events to be supported. The closing date is 12th June. Laois Hospice Sunflower
This year Laois Hospice Sunflower Day takes place on Friday, June 5. Would you have an hour to spare on that day. Laois Hospice Foundation will be selling Sunflowers on that day throughout the county and is seeking volunteers who would have an hour to spare to collect at the various locations in Portlaoise. All monies collected in Laois will be spent on hospice services in Laois.
