KILLESHIN MAY SUNDAY

Sunday May 6 is the annual May Sunday in Killeshin. The Holy Cross Sodality invites its members and the general public to join in their annual procession from Graiguecullen, leaving from St Clare’s at 10.30am for 12 noon Mass led by the Killeshin Pipe Band. People not up to walking the full journey are welcome to join in along the way. Householders along the route are encouraged to fly a flag outside their houses.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

55 Children from St Fiacc’s NS and eight children from Educate Together School will receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday May 5 at special masses at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm in St Clare’s Church. Three sixth class children from Educate Together will also be confirmed at the 2.30pm mass. First Holy Communion for the children from Killeshin NS will be celebrated on Saturday May 12 at 11.30am. Please note there will be no 10am mass next Saturday May 5.

ANNUAL SPONSORED WALK

The third annual mountain walk in aid of the Carlow Hospice this year to Mount Leinster takes place on Sunday May 27 starting from the Nine Stones at 9.30am. Anyone interested in taking part or supporting this project is invited to contact their local promoters. FIRST FRIDAY

This Friday May 4 is the First Friday of the month. There will be the usual penitential service during the 10am mass in St Clare’s on that day.

KILLESHIN FC

There was no winner of the recent Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 07, 08, 15 and 26. The four winners of the lucky dips were: Eddie Brennan, Sean Farrell, Brendan McDonald and Mick Kavanagh and each will receive €25. The seller’s prize of €25 was won by Breda Dargan. Next jackpot stands at €4,000 and tickets can be purchased at a cost of €2 from any club member or from the local shop or public houses.

COMMUNION TO THE SICK

Fr Dunphy and Madden will bring Holy Communion to the sick and housebound on Tuesday and Wednesday May 8 and 9. Please note they will not be calling during the coming week as normal.

SOLEMN NOVENA

The Seventh Solemn Novena continues every Monday night.

800 ANNIVERSARY OF THE POOR CLARE’S

Special events to mark the 800th anniversary will take place later this year. Cardinal Brady will celebrate Mass in St Clare’s on Saturday June 30 and then the celebrations will continue with the Triduum of prayer from August 08 to 10 and conclude with the celebration of the feast day of St Clare on August 11.

We are asking people to be part of Happy Heart Weekend on May 10 to 12. Volunteers are needed to sell hearts and key rings at various centres in Carlow and Graiguecullen. St Abban’s AC are holding the M3 Monavea Women’s 5km Mini Marathon on Sunday May 06 at 1pm. Walkers, joggers and runners are all welcome.

FIT-KIDS ACTIVE

Fit-kids Active fun Classes for children 3 to 12 years will take place in St Fiacc’s Hall from May 4 for eight weeks and classes are from 5pm to 6pm. Cost €6 per child per class.
