Success for Portlaoise cadets

CADETS from the Portlaoise Order of Malta recently travelled to Cavan to compete in the regional first aid and health and home nursing competitions.

CADETS from the Portlaoise Order of Malta recently travelled to Cavan to compete in the regional first aid and health and home nursing competitions.

The group had a number of winners. Cadet under 13 boy individual Conor Whelan came in first place, while the under 16 health and home nursing team made up of Jessica Weiss and Rachel Barry also came in first place. In the under 13 category, the health and home nursing team made up of Lauren Adams Lynett and Mollie O’Connor also came in first place. Congratulations also go to the Brainwave team who took first place, they are Jessica Weiss, Hannah Downey, Zoe Whelan and Rachel Barry. Finally, congratulations go to Daryl Mason who came first in the cadet leader of the year competition.

All these winners now go on to represent the region in the all Ireland competition in June.

Besides their success at the first aid and health competition, the Portlaoise branch also enjoyed further achievements when Jessica Weiss and Sean Weiss were recently awarded the director’s badge at a ceremony held in Dublin.
