2012 COMMUNITY & VOLUNTARY AWARDS

Congratulations to the Graiguecullen-Killeshin Parish Youth Ministry Group on winning the Children and Young Persons Category of the 2012 Community and Voluntary Awards hosted by Laois Community Forum in association with Laois Sports Partnership, Laois County Council and The Leinster Express. Emma and Sarah Nolan accepted the award on behalf of the Youth Ministry Group and received a framed certificate and a cheque for €400.

A special thanks to Pat Whelan who nominated the parish for this award.

IS YOUR CHILD STARTING SCHOOL SEPT 2013

The board of management of St Fiacc’s Co-Educational Parish National School is now accepting pre-enrolment applications for September 2013. A form will be available in the school office commencing Monday 26 November. The forms are available earlier than usual in case a waiting list or other resources are required. It is hoped to have a reasonably accurate number of the demand for places, therefore early application is advisable.

To pre-enrol your child you need to collect a pre-enrolment application form from the school office, complete and return before 31 January 2013. The returned forms will be logged and dated. Offers of places will be issued in the spring time.

KILLESHIN FC LOTTO

There was no winner of the recent lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 01, 05, 16 and 18. The four lucky dip winners were Alison Gibson, Louise Mc Donald, Chris Moran and Jason Hughes and each received €25. The seller’s prize of €25 was won by Dan Doyle. The next jackpot stands at €7,000 and tickets can be purchased for €2 from any club member or from our local shop and public houses.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER

Parish Evergreens and Senior Citizens annual Christmas dinner will be held on Sunday 16 December at 1pm in the Talbot Hotel. All senior citizens from the parish are invited. Admission is free but those who wish to attend must collect their ticket from the parish centre before Monday 10 December.

ST FIACC’S HOUSE

St Fiacc’s House annual draw takes place on Monday 17 December. Cards available from Fiacc’s House. New promoters would be very welcome. St Fiacc’s House Christmas cards for sale at reception in Fiacc’s House.

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOX APPEAL

Team Hope together bringing hope to the needy. Boxes can be left at Callinan’s Food Store, opposite St Clare’s Church. Information leaflets are available in the Parish Centre and Callinan’s shop. COMMUNITY GAMES

Training for team events has started on Fridays in St Fiacc’s Hall and costs €1 per child. 5 to 6pm: under 11 boys and girls indoor soccer and basketball. 6 to 7pm: under 13s girls basketball and indoor soccer. Thursdays 8 to 9pm: under 13s boys indoor soccer.

BEREAVEMENT MASS

The annual mass to remember all our parishioners who died during the past year or family members who died during the past year will be celebrated on Friday 30 November at 7.30pm in St Clare’s.

FAMILY MASS

A special family mass will be celebrated in St Clare’s on the first Sunday of each month at 11.30am.

OISÍN HOUSE

Christmas party social night with live music, plenty of craic, tea and home baking in Oisín House on Saturday 15 December. To book a table call 0868340387 and admission is €10 including door prizes. Group rates available.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place on each Sunday at the 11.30am Mass in St Clare’s.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Each Wednesday from 10.30am to 2pm in the Oratory in St Fiacc’s House. If you would like to give some time to pray before the Blessed Sacrament please sign the book which is placed in the Oratory. All welcome.

RAINBOWS PEER SUPPORT PROGRAMME

Rainbows Peer Support Programme for school going children. Anyone interested in starting the Rainbows Programme beginning in November in Graiguecullen Parish Centre please complete application form and return immediately to the parish office. Forms are available at the back of the church or in the parish centre.

KILLESHIN HALL

Every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in Graiguecullen Hall. All loose sheets €2 each, six panel book €5 and double book €10. Everyone welcome and bring a friend.

THURSDAY MORNING CLUB

Thursday Morning club has resumed after 10am mass in St Clare’s. Parishioners are invited into the parish centre after mass for a cuppa and a chat.

Suicide bereavement support service have launched their walk in service which is currently running on Wednesdays 10am to 12 noon. Talk It Over is a free and confidential service by fully trained listeners on a one to one and group basis.   Come along and meet us, contact us on 0863364961.

The fourth edition of our parish annual is due to be published in early December.

SUNDAY READINGS

Anyone who would like to reflect on the Sunday readings is invited to a half hour meeting each Wednesday at 7.30pm in the parish centre. A special invitation to all who will be reading the Word of God at mass on Sunday. This is an opportunity for people to enhance their participation in their celebration of mass each Sunday.

ÉIST CANCER SUPPORT CENTRE
