THE LATE DAN LAWLOR
The death took place recently at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow, of Mr. Dan Lawlor, Montheen, Crettyard. Dan was in his nineties and was predeceased by his wife, Biddy, some years ago. His remains were removed from Moran’s Funeral Home to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Moneenroe. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his sons, daughters, other relatives and a large circle of friends.

The AGM of the local ladies club was held recently in Newtown School. Officers elected for the coming year are: President: Veronica Brooks. Vice President: Alice Nash. Secretary: Mary Wheatley. Asst. Secretary: Ann Mary Mullins. Treasurer: Mary Doyle. Assistant Treasurer: Rita Brennan. Competition winners: Mary Purcell and Nora Brennan. Raffle winner: Catherine Conway.
Last weeks winners in the Crettyard Footballers Lotto were Jason Purcell, Kilgorey Road, Pa Brennan, Clonbrock, John Finlay. The winning numbers were 2-5-8-28. The club are staging a local 7 a side tournament for all men aged 16 and up. It will be run from February through to March. Anyone interested should contact Peter Brennan or John Jones.
