Leinster results from the community games boys u13 beat MRI Offaly on Monday June 10 and will now play Westmeath to see who progresses to Leinster semi-finals on July 6. The team is Thomas Scully, Conor Montague, Ned Ryan, Eoin Keenan, Evan Harding, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Oisin Keogh, Dean Byrne and Eddie Allen.

Our U10 GAA team gave a great performance in dreadful weather conditions on Tusday June 11 in Emo, they were beaten by a strong team from Clara in Offaly. Our throwball team u11 will play Offaly next week and our skittles teams are through to the Leinster semi-finals on July 16 in Longford.

County athletics finals took place in St Abbans on Saturday June 22.


South East Laois Arts Network are delighted to be part of this year’s Pride of Place. An all-island competition which is directed towards recognising improvements by local communities to create civic pride in their area. The competition focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area.

In a special category ‘community arts’ the network will be showcasing events to the judges on Thursday July 11 from 2.30 - 5pm in Ballylinan.

The Canal 5K

Courtwood GAA’s third annual 5K road race took place recently and attracted a big turnout of runners who ran the scenic route, starting just below the club gates, past the Fishermans Inn, along the canal and back to the GAA.
