THE LATE ANGELA HANDY

The death occurred on Sunday, August 25 in St. James Hospital, Dublin of Angela Handy (née O’Connor), Portlaoise Road, Stradbally and formerly of Calverstown, Kilcullen, Kildare. She is deeply regretted by her loving husband Tom, sons Niall, Ciaran and Fergal, daughter in law Karon, grand-daughters Tara and Shivy, brothers Eamonn, Pat, Liam, Jim and Joe, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Her remains were reposing in her family home on Monday and Tuesday until removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally and following 11am requiem mass her remains were interred in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

THE LATE JOHN MAHER

The death occurred on Friday, August 23 of John Maher, Timahoe Road, Stradbally and formerly of Grange, Stradbally. Affectionately known as Tiny, his remains were reposing at his partner Deirdre Duffs residence and following requiem mass on Monday, interment took place in St Michael’s Cemetery,Timahoe. To his partner Deirdre, his brothers and sisters and his extended family deepest sympathy is offered.

OFF TO THE DOGS

Timahoe National School are holding a race night in Newbridge Greyhound Stadium on Friday, September 27. The fundraiser is to properly fit out the new classroom extension. Tickets are €15 and can be purchased in the Timahoe National School or by contacting 087 7443824. There will be a raffle on the night with lots of prizes.

WHIST DRIVE

Next whist will be on Friday, September 20 at 8.30pm sharp.

FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Stradbally Flower and Farden Club are organising a trip to Maynooth on Tuesday, September 17 for the demonstration by Jonathon Moseley in the Glen Royal Hotel, Maynooth. Phone or text Dorrie 0872596129, Frances 0863551756 or Vera 0857254361.

The next meeting of the club will be held on Wednesday, September 4 in St Joseph’s Hall, at 8pm. Full payment of €27.50 for admission to demonstration and bus or deposit will be taken on the night. This does not include meal.

The prayer meeting resumed on Monday, September 2 at 8pm in the Presentation Convent Chapel and every Monday night there after.

The housebound of the parish will be attended to on this Friday, September 6.

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September from 8.45am until 9.45am before 10am mass.

Ecumenical service of remembrance and hope in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore on Tuesday, September 10 at 7.30pm.

RATHENISKA COMHALTAS

Registration for this year’s music will take place in Ratheniska Hall on tonight, Tuesday, September 3 at 7pm.

50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Heartiest congratulations to Larry and Chrissie Swayne, Court Square, Stradbally who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. They spent a week in Kerry as part of their celebrations.
