Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra Club have won the Eoin Doran Shield for the Macra na Feirme year 2012-2013. This was awarded to the club for their involvement and participation in competitions and also for their participation in club events both regional and county. The club were delighted to accept this award as it was the first time in their eight year existence that they were awarded with such a title. They took part in such competitions as soccer, Gaelic football, farm skills, tag rugby, solo singing to name but a few. They were successful in winning the All-Ireland ‘Know your Ag’ table quiz at the Macra rally last October. This was a great achievement for the club. They also were runners up in the ladies All-Ireland basketball competition in Limerick and reached the All-Ireland finals of the set dancing. It was a great year for the club and what a great way to finish the year for them than winning the Eoin Doran Shield.
We wish the club the very best of luck with the next Macra year which will start off with club officer training in Dublin next month. For more information on Macra or if you are interested in joining the club contact Claire on 085- 665838.
