Christmas Shoe Box Appeal
Camross and Killanure N.S. will be holding their annual Christmas shoebox appeal. They will be collected from both schools on November 15.
Bus to Clonfert

Exercises for Active Retirees will start in Community hall on Wednesday, November 13 at 3pm.
Church gate collection
The Camross Active Retirement Group are holding their annual church gate collection on Saturday evening, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 at Camross, Kilanure, and Annatrim churches.
Camross & Killenure NS clothes collection in aid of Fr Paddy Hylands mission in Kenya will take place on November 27. All unwanted clothes, etc can be left in the play shelters of both schools from the 20th.
The Chiropodist will be in attendance in Community hall on Thursday, December 5.
The 65 Kitchen Choir present their unique brand of music and song show at the centre on Thursday, November 28, Fri day, November 29 and Saturday, November 30 at 8.pm. Adm €15. If there is enough interest in this show a bus maybe arranged for a particular night. Contact Frank if interested on 087 6251118.
Last Friday week Dinny and Sarah Dowling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a ceremony in St Fergal’s Church and meal afterwards in the Parish Centre. They were accompanied by their Bridesmaid Rita Scully Portlaoise, sister of the Bride, and Michael Dowling brother of Denis.
Dinny and Sarah were also joined by their daughters Mary Theresa Burke and Margaret, sons Padraig and Sean (twins), Fran, Donnacha and Oliver, sadly they couple lost another daughter Elizabeth just forty years ago. Also present were most of their 17 grandchildren, their brothers and sisters, extended family and friends.
Camross community wish them many more years of happiness.
Hurlers bow out
Camross bowed out of the Leinster club championship when they went down to the reigning Leinster and Offaly champions Kilcormack-Killoughey.
The club held their AGM on Friday night and details in this column next week. Elsewhere the under 13 hurlers beat Borris-Kilcotton and were scheduled to play Naomh Eamon on Saturday last in the semi-final.
Congratulations are extended to Camogie girls Niamh Dollard and Sara Ann Fitzgerald who were honoured with rising star awards at a function in Dublin last week. Niamh was also was chosen as Laois player of the year and will receive her award at the County Board dinner dance on Saturday November 23 in the Heritage Hotel.
Zane Keenan will receive the hurling award. Tickets are available from the County Board offices in Portlaoise.
Months Mind Mass
The Months Mind Mass for the late Sadie Delaney Camross Village will be celebrated on Saturday week November 23 in St Fergal’s Church at 8pm.
Sympathy is extended to the Moore family of Castleconnor on the death of their cousin Philomena (Phil) Nolan of Deerpark, Cadamstown, Birr, county Offaly.
