Camross CCE Branch are hosting their annual Stephen Conroy Workshop Weekend on Saturday November 9 in Camross School and hall commencing at 9.30am grading. Classes will run from 10am - 12.30pm lunch break 12.30pm - 1pm classes will resume after lunch at 1pm - 3pm. The workshop will conclude with a little concert for the students with their tutors and finish at 4pm. Fee for the workshop is one child €20, two children €30, three children €40 and three or more children €50. There will be a grand concert in the hall on Saturday night at 8.30pm, featuring Camross CCE U18 groups, Clogher Valley Tyrone, Flying Ducks Boughterolde, France, and Camross Comhaltas and friends. Admission for concert is adults €7, children €3. Workshop participants concert is free.

Camross Vintage Club’s AGM will be held in The Poets Cottage on Friday, November 8, at 8.30pm sharp.
A clothes collection will take place from both schools on Wednesday, November 27 in aid of Fr. Paddy Hyland’s Mission in Kenya. All unwanted clothes can be left into both school shelters a week before the collection takes place.
The annual general meeting of Camross GAA Club will take lace in Derrynaseera on this Friday night November 8 commencing at 8.15pm approx and at 7.30pm in the local Church Mass will be celebrated for all deceased members at 7.30pm.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs Helen Ryan of Clonin Camross on the death of her Mother Mrs McGrath in Ballyferriter County Kerry last week. Mrs McGrath had reached a good age and was laid to rest following requiem Mass on Sunday October 27th sympathy is extended to Helen and her family.
Death of Dinny Phelan
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Denis (Dinny) Phelan of Derrough Mountrath and formerly of Bacca Mountrath a son of the Late Lar and Elizabeth Phelan.Dinny had been in failing health for a number of years and passed away on Tuesday evening and was in his late sixties. Having reposed at Guilfoyles funeral home in Castletown his remains were brought to St Fintans Church Mountrath on Thursday morning and received by the PP Fr Pat Hennessey who along with Fr John Lalor of Camross celebrated his requiem Mass.
As the remains arrived at the Church a guard of honour was provided by Camross, Slieve Bloom and Trumera Hurling clubs Dinny having played with all three in his younger days.
After Mass his remains were taken to Newlands Cross crematorium, chief mourners are his two sons Declan and Lorcan, daughter, Mary, his brothers Michael Larry and Aiden his two sisters Cissy Collier and Molly Lalor, nephews, nieces relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
Congratulations are extended to Dinny and Sarah Dowling of Longford Camross and formerly Derrycarrow and Killenure who celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their Marriage on Friday last. After Mass in Camross Church along with family and friends they adjourned to Camross Parish centre for a most enjoyable meal and celebration. More details next week.
Completed shoeboxes can be dropped off in Portlaoise at Axa, the parish centre, Tesco, and TK Maxx; in Abbeyleix at the golf club or library; in Mountmellick at the library or the post office; and in Mountrath at Centra.
The closing date for this year’s appeal is November 11.
