Main street in Portlaoise was awash with colour and music over the bank holiday weekend, as the Voices Across Cultures street market festival took over.
The festival attracted many visitors, and showcased over 40 market stalls selling culturally diverse products.
Speaking to the Leinster Express, Ladonna McCartan from Downtown Portlaoise said that the weekend was a huge success for people visiting the town, and also for the local retailers.
“We’ve received very good feedback so far. The weather played a big part, the sun was splitting the stones and it helped to bring everybody outside. There was a huge extent of choice on the stalls, and there was something for all the family. We had local and international music over the weekend. It all brought the Main Street to life. In The Pantry, we’ve had customers coming in asking when the next festival is taking place. On the Saturday, we had our double doors open and cuban music drifting in through the doors, it felt like we were in the Caribbean.”
