Sale of Work Thanks
The sale of work this year was again a massive success raising over €8,000.00 which was due to the massive dedication and hard work of its organisers. Many thanks to all those to manned stalls, sold tickets, contributed prizes, bottles etc and of course to the large crowd who supported it on the day. The winners of the draw were €300: Brian and Mary Kenny, Derrykerrin, Abbeyleix; €200: Mary McDonald, Castlemarket; Lamb: Claire Morrissey; Turkey: Sinead and Kevin Madden; Ham: Helen Collins, Castlemarket; Christmas Cake: Sinead Dooley, Castlemarket; Bottle Whiskey: Brendan Tynan, Dunmore.
On Friday night at a function in the Wheel Inn the funds were distributed to the chosen beneficiaries form the Ballyouskill Vintage Run & Treshing Day. Beneficiaries were The O’Gorman Home, Ballyragget €4,630. Ballyragget / Ballyouskill Senior Citizens Christmas Party €500.
Ballyouskill / Ballyragget Lourdes Invalid Fund €500. On behalf of the organising committee Andrew Thorpe was delighted with the day which was a great success. He thanked all of the helpers, sponsors and supporters who contributed to making the event both a social and a financial success. He was already looking forward to next year and hopefully a bigger and better day.
Speaking for the major beneficiary the O’Gorman Home Ms. Ann McGrath said the contribution was a massive boost in times of escalating costs. “We are one of ten units across the counties of Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford and while we are partly funded by the HSE there is always a shortfall and as a result all donations especially this substantial one are very much appreciated. Thank you so much to all involved and also to Wheel Inn proprietor Frank Brennan for his hospitality.” She concluded.
For Carmel Walsh-Kenny the donation was a pleasant surprise and a magnificent boost towards the senior citizens party which was held last Tuesday. The progressive committee were now in a position to deliver gift bags to the house bound who were unable to attend the festive party.
