A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated this Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.


The group meet every Friday morning in the Marion Centre (beside the RC Church) from 10-12. All welcome parents, carers and minders with children from new born to pre-school. No joining fee - €3 per morning.


Chef Gavin Cribbin will be hosting one of his cookery demonstrations, sponsored by Breslin’s Supervalu Rathdowney, in Allens Lounge Errill on Friday March 30, in aid of St Colmcille’s National School Errill. Organised by the parents council, Easy Family Entertainment is the theme for the night, which will give parents brilliant recipe ideas for any upcoming communions and confirmations, as well as any family get together. Doors open at 7.15pm and the demonstration will start at 8pm sharp. There will be a very impressive raffle during the interval also on the night local businesses will be showcasing their business. Tickets cost €7.50 and are on sale in local shops in Errill and Rathdowney. A great night assured so please come along and support.

On Sunday the 18th March OCC cyclist. Derek Byrne travelled to Newbridge to take part in The A3, A4 category road race. Once again Derek had a very successful day finishing second in his race. He now has almost accumulated enough points for promotion to the A3 category, where he will be up against some of the strongest cyclist in Ireland. The club has be asked to organize two short road races which will take place on Thursday the 28 June and Thursday 12 July Clubs from Kildare Dublin and Meath will take part in the races, further details will be posted. Also on Monday last some of our cyclist travelled to Ballymurphy Co. Carlow to take on a short 70k course our three representatives cycled extremely well with Willie Alward coming home first for the club with Harry Hoare next and Terry Smeaton close behind. What a beautiful sunny day last Sunday was Watchtours cycling club Portlaoise held a 100k and a 60k cycle for the Make Believers foundation. Twelve cyclist from OCC took part in this very well organized event, the pace was quite fast right from the start. The tour travelled through Timahoe, Stradbally, Vicarstown, Mountmellick, Clonaslee, The Cut, Mountrath and back to Portlaoise, first home for OCC was Derek Ryan followed by Willie Alwyard, Seamus Kavanagh, Terry Smeaton, Harry Hoare, Aidan Bourke and finally Paddy Campion. Many more of our cyclist took on the shorter 60k course. Sunday also turned out to be another fabulous day for Derek Byrne, Derek travelled to Carlow take part in the Des Hanlon memorial road race. He needed only one point to be promoted to the A3 Category. Derek had a superb race coming home in First place winning with a sprint finish to the line. Well done to Derek from all his fellow club members. On Sunday the 1st April there will be a 70k Sportive in Templemore details of event will be passed on to cyclist. Please don’t forget our own Sportive which takes place on Sunday, 22 April.
