THIS Easter Sunday, April 8, sees the 2012 staging of the popular 18km walk on the MacGiollapadraig Way from Durrow in Laois to Gathabawn in Kilkenny.
This estimated three and a half to four hour cross country walk which is promoted by South Laois and North Kilkenny Tourism groups will start at the church car park in Durrow at 12.30pm and continue by Ballykealy at 1.30pm and Cullahill Mountain by 3pm where intended walkers can join at the trail head.
At the end of the walk lunch will be served in Mackeys Bar in Gathabawn. A pay for shuttle bus will also be available on the day to transport passengers from the finish to the start point.
The route will be marked from the start in the direction of Gathabawn with points of intrest highlighted. There will be a designated water point at the Cummer well on Cullahill Mountain. This is an outstanding opportunity for all walkers and walking groups to come along and enjoy what South Laois and North Kilkenny has to offer.
