Many thanks to Kieran Feeney of Midlands Radio 3 for including Attanagh in his weekly programme Parish which was broadcast on Monday, May 28. It was well received and delighted all who heard it. Also thanks to Walter Phelan for organising people to participate in the programme and providing a venue to record same. If you missed the programme and have internet access you can go into the Midlands Radio 3 website www.midlandsradio.fm and listen to the programme online. Walter’s museum will feature in a separate programme to be aired (date to be confirmed) over the next few months.
While we still have many litter bugs passing through our village the problem is being diligently dealt with by locals Kieran Holland and Paddy Ryan who are regularly patrolling the roads to gather up all sorts of debris discarded from cars. These drive-by passing litter louts must have the cleanest houses in Ireland seeing as they throw so much rubbish out of their car windows. So if you feel the urge to throw litter from your car anywhere please keep your hands glued to the steering wheel and your windows closed and soon you will find yourself home and near an actual litter holding facility i.e. a bin.
