SLIEVE BLOOM ASSOCIATION
The next meeting of the Slieve Bloom Association will be held in the ICA Hall, Mountmellick on Thursday, August 16 at 8:30pm. A final decision will be made at the meeting on where we will visit on the Annual Tour on the last weekend in August. Anyone interested in preserving, yet promoting the heritage of the Slieve Bloom area is welcome to attend – we are always looking for new members.
Outing to Wexford on Wednesday August 29. Bus leaving Clonaslee at 9 am, stopping at Talbot Hotel for tea and scones. Bus will leave Wexford at 2 pm and head to Our Lady’s Island for 3 pm. In the evening a four course meal will be at the Talbot Hotel at 6 pm. Cost per person is €20 for meal and bus is €7 return. Our annual pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Thursday August 16. Bus will be leaving Mountmellick at 8 am and Clonaslee at 8:30 am. Seats must be booked before Tuesday August 14. Adults €7 return, under 16 and children €3 return. All children must be accompanied by an adult. To book seats phone Laois Trip on 057-869-2168.
CLONASLEE SHOW DRAW
Tickets are available from all Show members. Members can bring in money and ticket stubs to the Community Centre on every Monday from 8 – 9 pm. Draw takes place August 24 in the Heritage Centre.
Be wary of anyone who comes to your door without prior arrangement saying they need access to your home or saying they can check your TV or aerial. Neither Saorview nor RTE are sending anyone door to door to check out if your TV is Saorview ready.
The family of Dinny Dunne, Birmingham and formerly of Corbally thank all the family, friends and neighbours for all their support, prayers and help during our bereavement and especially those who travelled to Ahsacragh.
