The annual pilgrimage to Ladywell will commence Wednesday, 15th August with concelebrated mass at 3.00 p.m. The principal celebrant this year will be Dr. Seamus Freeman, Bishop of Ossory who will also preach the homily. The pilgrimage will continue until the 8th September which will include the usual annual novena commencing on the 31st August. The committee have worked very hard this year in preparing the site and have same in excellent condition for the large attendances expected. The speakers for the novena will be announced at a later stage.
The death has occurred of John Foskin late of Dublin and Lowhill. His funeral mass was celebrated last Wednesday by Very Reverend Tom Murphy P.P. in the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. John is mourned by his widow Mary (nee Grace); son Sean; daughter Maura; grandchildren, great-grand children, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended. John’s will also be missed by his many acquaintences who were saddened to hear of his death. A native of the village of Mullinavat he gave almost his entire life in Dublin but John remained at heart a countryman and a Kilkenny man. He was also a great supporter of the GAA and was very much involved in the game of handball in Dublin. He had attained the good age of 89 years.
